OUR 2015 SHOW AND CONTEST

OUR 2017 SHOW AND EXHIBITION

Our 2013 "Hand Grenades & Atom Bombs" Annual Show was held on Friday and Saturday, June 21-22, 2013 at the Sumter Convention Center, 700 West Liberty, Sumter, SC 29150. This show was ANOTHER GREAT SUCCESS!  We co-hosted our AMPS show with our IPMS Gamecocks friends in conjunction with their IPMS / USA Region-12 Convention.  Contact IPMS Gamecocks, Sumter-Shaw-AFB.  The newly renovated Convention Center venue featured over 100 tables for display and 75 vendor tables!  And this year, AMPS Central SC had dedicated spaces for Judging and to present the Judges' Training.  The new venue was fantastic, and we've already received a lot of complements about this spacious and well-lit facility.

Thanks to all our participants, vendors, sponsors and donors!

                                                         Entries, Displays and Vendors

We held our 2017 Annual Show on Friday and Saturday, June 9-10, 2017 at the SC National Guard Armory at 1225 Bluff Road, Columbia, SC 29201. By now you’ve all heard that our 2017 show was our largest show to date.  As you can see from the stats published here, just on the AMPS side, we had 36 entrants with 102 models.  That is, hands down, the largest AMPS show we’ve ever run on our own.  If you include the additional entrants and models on the Flight Deck side of the show, this contest is even larger than the one we co-hosted with the IPMS R-12 Regional Convention in 2013.  The combined numbers this year are 46 entrants with 157 models!

And make no mistake, even though we deliberately made the Flight Deck show LOOK like something other than an AMPS event, our club planned it, we organized it, we funded and resourced it, and we operated it.  You and our club deserve full credit for the whole event – the AMPS and the Flight Deck shows!

Thanks to all our participants, vendors, sponsors and donors!

Scott Amey Best Intermediate Model:

We again awarded the "Scott Amey Best Intermediate Model" Award in honor of Scott's memory.

We awarded the Scott Amey Best Intermediate Model Award this year to John B. Franklin for his 1/48 scale "British Sherman Ic".  We were fortunate to once again have the pleasure of Scott’s parents Buck and Joan Amey attend our show this year.

OUR 2013 SHOW AND CONTEST

We held our 2015 "Go Trackless" Annual Show on Friday and Saturday, June 19-20, 2015 at theCrane Creek Gymnasium at 7405-B Fairfield Road (Highway US-321 North), Columbia, SC 29203. This show was ANOTHER SUCCESS!  The fairly new Gymnasium venue has enough space for 65 Display Tables and 54 Vendor Tables!  We weren’t able to fill the venue to this capacity, but there certainly is a lot of room for growth in future shows.  The new venue was fantastic, and we've received numerous complements about this spacious, well-lit facility, and its well-functioning air conditioning (local weather was over 100 degrees F with clear skies!). This was a new venue for us, but we were quite pleased with the facility and plan on returning there for our next local show.

Thanks to all our participants, vendors, sponsors and donors!

OUR 2012 SHOW AND CONTEST

SHORTLY AFTER WE STARTED OUR CHAPTER IN 2010, OUR MEMBERS DECIDED TO HOST OUR FIRST SHOW.  THIS WAS A PRETTY RISKY VENTURE GIVEN THAT WE HAD BEEN ORGANIZED FOR LESS THAN A YEAR, BUT WITH A LOT OF HARD WORK, A WHOLE LOT OF  HELP FROM OUR NATIONAL AND REGIONAL AMPS FRIENDS, AND THE KIND INVITATION OF THE MID-LANDS CHAPTER OF THE SCMA, WE PULLED IT OFF.

WITH OUR FIRST SHOW A SUCCESS, WE WERE ENCOURAGED TO MAKE IT AN ANNUAL EVENT.

OUR THIRD SHOW WAS OUR BIGGEST AND BEST YET!
